Another Hampton Inn Underway in El Segundo

As one Hampton Inn & Suites prepares to start work in Koreatown, another is already well underway south of Los Angeles International Airport in the City of El Segundo. The five-story hotel, located at 888 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, will feature approximately 190 guest rooms and associated amenities. The low-rise edifice is rising on a formerly vacant lot adjacent to an eight-story office building and parking garage. Completion is reportedly on pace to occur sometime in late 2016.

First Look at Playa Jefferson's Expansion

Just two months after signing Facebook to a 50,000-square-foot lease at Playa Jefferson, Vantage Property Investors has unveiled its expansion plans for the Playa Vista office complex. A flythrough video and photorealistic renderings produced by Kilograph Studio portray the proposed Building E, which would rise on the east side of the campus at 12777 W. Jefferson Boulevard. The three-story structure, which is being designed by global architecture firm Gensler, would feature approximately 55,000 square feet of leasable floor area.

New Renderings for Anaheim's LT Platinum Center

L.T. Global Investment, Inc., the American arm of Hong Kong-based LT Commercial Real Estate Limited, has revealed updated plans for a mixed-use complex which would rise next to Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The approximately $450-million project, slated for a 14.8-acre property at State College Boulevard and Orangewood Avenue, would consist of a series of high-rise and mid-rise buildings featuring 340 residential units, 200 hotel rooms, 77,000 square feet of office space, 3,500 parking spaces and more than 440,000 square feet of commercial floor area.

Five-Story Development Rising in West L.A.

Construction is underway on the first in a series of mixed-use developments planned along Pico Boulevard in West Los Angeles. The Hampstead Heath development, now rising from a .44-acre property at at 11628-11652 W. Pico Boulevard, will consist of a five-story structure featuring 71 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments above approximately 3,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Other features will include a recreation room, a second-story courtyard and a two-level underground garage with parking accommodations for 105 automobiles and 78 bicycles.

New Look for Hollywood's Academy Development

A draft environmental impact report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has unveiled a new look for the Academy, a proposed mixed-use complex in Hollywood. The project from Los Angeles-based Kilroy Realty would redevelop a 3.5-acre site bounded by Vine Street, De Longpre, Ivar and Homewood Avenues. Plans call for a mixture of high-rise and low-rise structures, containing nearly 500,000 square feet of multifamily residential units, office space, shops and restaurants.

South Park's "Emerald" Revealed

The website of architecture firm MVE + Partners has revealed renderings for “Emerald,” a proposed residential-retail complex in Downtown Los Angeles. The project is slated for a .67-acre parking lot on the eastern perimeter of the South Park neighborhood. Plans call for a seven-story structure, offering 154 apartments above approximately 10,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and two levels of underground parking. Renderings portray a contemporary L-shaped building, featuring a rooftop deck, a podium-level swimming pool and a corner retail plaza.

Inside Oceanwide Plaza's Big Concrete Pour

Lendlease, an international property and infrastructure company, has announced the completion of the initial mat foundation pour for the Oceanwide Plaza development in Downtown Los Angeles. This milestone will allow for vertical construction of the project to begin. The initial pour, which occurred during March 25th-26th, is described as one of the largest construction mat pours in the Los Angeles history. Crews from Lendlease worked with 700 concrete trucks to pour 7,000 cubic yards of concrete over 700 tons of rebar.

Apartments Planned in Anaheim's Historic Downtown

Trammell Crow Residential has announced the purchase of a 4.3-acre site in the CtrCity Anaheim district, where the Dallas-based real estate firm intends to construct a mixed-use development. The property, bounded by Lemon Street, Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim Boulevard and Cypress Street, is currently developed with a vacant AT&T facility and a parking lot. It is entitled for a four-story building with 220 apartments and ground-floor retail space. The project, to be known as Alexan CtrCity, is scheduled to begin construction in August 2016 and finish by the fourth quarter of 2018.

Newport Beach Planning Commission to Review Tower Proposal

Later today, developer Related California will present a controversial proposal to replace the Orange County Museum of Art with a condominium tower to the Newport Beach Planning Commission. The proposed 26-story development, dubbed Museum House, would rise from an approximately two-acre site at 850 San Clemente Drive in Newport Center. Plans call for 100 two-and-three-bedroom condominiums above a two-level underground parking garage. An elevation rendering indicates that the tower, designed by Robert A.M.

Construction Continues for Kaiser Permanente Medical Building

One block west of Crenshaw Boulevard, an outpatient facility from nonprofit healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente is under construction on site of a former shopping center. The $90-million project, which broke ground in October 2015, is rising from an approximately 8.6-acre property at the intersection of Marlton Avenue and Santa Rosalia Drive. Plans call for a four-story, 100,000-square foot building which will offer services including diagonistic imaging, family medicine, health education classes, gynecology, opthamology, optometry and pediatrics.
