Report Highlights TODs Along the Gold Line

A report commissioned by the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority bosts of robust economic development surrounding the stations on the northern leg of the light rail line, which runs between Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles and Azusa. The report, which was first highlighted by the Source, states that the existing and proposed segments of the Gold Line has generated approximately $6.7 billion in private investment since opening in 2003, which translates to 12,500 new housing units, 3.6 million square feet of commercial space and 1,400 hotel rooms.

New Details for Proposed 8th & Fig Tower

An initial study published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning offers up new details for the Fig & 8th development, a proposed high-rise development that would replace one of Downtown’s most prominent parking lots. Mitsui Fudosan America, the U.S. subsidiary of the Japanese conglomerate Mitsui Fudosan, has owned the one-acre subject site at 8th and Figueroa Streets for more than 20 years. They plan to remove the existing parking lot to construct a 42-story high-rise edifice that would feature 436 residential units, approximately 10,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 479-car garage with four below-grade levels and four above-grade levels.

First Look at Proposed Hollywood Hotel

Local entrepreneur Adolfo Suaya’s plan for a new hotel in Hollywood has been unveiled through an environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. Suaya, who filed plans with the City this past June, intends to redevelop a surface parking lot at 1717 N. Wilcox Avenue into a six-story building featuring 134 hotel rooms above approximately 3,600 square feet of street-fronting restaurant space and 104 parking spaces on two subterranean levels.

Latest K-Town Tower Unveiled

An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has shed new light on Harridge Development Group’s plan for a hotel-and-residential complex behind Koreatown’s Wilshire Galleria. The proposed development calls for the adaptive reuse of the six-story Galleria Building into a 160-room hotel. Harridge intends to add a small structure featuring guest rooms atop the building’s roof, as well as further alterations for a pool and amenity deck.

Proposed Van Nuys Development Revealed

Later this week, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission will review 7111 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, a proposed mixed-use development from the Downtown-based firm Fayz Holdings, LLC. The project, slated for the current site of a small commercial building south of Sherman Way, comes from Fayz Holdings, a limited liability company based out of Downtown Los Angeles. Plans call for a six-story structure, featuring 180 residential units, 4,750 square feet of ground-floor retail space and on-site parking for 302 vehicles and 206 bicycles.

Renderings Galore for Oceanwide Plaza

With a Park Hyatt officially on the way at Oceanwide Plaza, an official website has now unveiled new renderings for the $1-billion mixed-use complex adjacent to Staples Center and L.A. Live. Oceanwide Real Estate Group, the Chinese developer behind the project, is well into the construction process for three high-rise towers on the city block bounded by 11th, 12th, Figueroa and Flower Streets. When completed in 2019, the sprawling 4.6-acre site will yield 504 condominiums, 184 hotel rooms and more than 150,000 square feet of commercial space.

Mixed-Use Complex to Overlook L.A. State Historic Park

The family behind the San Antonio Winery is reviving plans to build a mixed-use development overlooking Los Angeles State Historic Park. The project, which was filed earlier today with the City of Los Angeles, would create residential-retail complex on a narrow, eight-acre strip of land which flanks North Broadway. According to a case filing from the Department of City Planning, the proposal calls for a 1.1-million-square-foot development 920 apartments, 17 live/work lofts and 21,000 square feet of pedestrian-oriented commercial space.

Gehry-Designed Sunset Boulevard Project Downsized

Developer Townscape Partners will downsize its plan for a Frank Gehry-designed development at 8150 Sunset Boulevard, after reaching a compromise with 4th District Councilmember David Ryu and group of community activists. The project, which is slated for the southwest corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights Boulevards, was originally to consist of two mid-rise buildings featuring two towers featuring 249 apartments and condominiums and approximately 65,000 square feet of commercial space. Under the revised project, which has been agreed to by the City of West Hollywood and the Laurel Canyon Association, the proposed buildings will be limited to a maximum height of 178 feet, a decrease from maximum 234-foot edifice from the original plan.

Small Lot Subdivision Planned in Panorama City

An L-shaped site in Panorama City is slated for redevelopment as a collection of small lot homes. The project, slated for a property at 14701-14719 W. Plummer Street, is slated for 28 small lot homes by Los Angeles-based firm AG Plummer, LLC. Architectural plans on file with the Department of City Planning show a variety of floor plans, each of which would feature a two-car garage.
