Road Diet Planned for 6th Street

Earlier this month, the Mid City West Council’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to support a proposed road diet along a one-mile stretch of 6th Street between La Brea and Fairfax Avenues. The proposed changes would include the following: Fairfax to Masselin Avenue Eliminate two automobile travel lanes and narrow curbside parking lanes to create a center turn lane and bike lanes. Hauser Boulevard to Dunsmuir Avenue Eliminate two automobile travel lanes and narrow curbside parking lanes to create a center turn lane and bike lanes.

Apartment Complex Planned in MacArthur Park

According to an environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, a new mixed-use development is slated for a vacant lot near the border between MacArthur Park and Koreatown. The project, currently known by the prosaic title “Apartments on 7th Street @ Hoover Street,” would rise from an approximately 1.28-acre site near the southwest corner of 7th and Hoover Streets. Plans filed by Pasadena-based Maxsum Development call for a six-story podium-style structure that would feature 158 residential units, 5,571 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and 250 underground parking stalls.

Apartments and Retail Headed to MacArthur Park

According to plans filed earlier this week with the City of Los Angeles, a nondescript shopping center may soon give way for a new residential-retail complex in MacArthur Park. The proposed development, slated for a 1.2-acre site at 2940 West Seventh Street, would consist of a six-story structure featuring 180 residential units and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space. Records from the Department of City Planning indicate that is seeking both a reduction in the required amount of parking and a density bonus, indicating the inclusion of an affordable housing component.

Veteran Housing Completed in MacArthur Park

Construction is complete for the Six Apartments, a new affordable housing complex in MacArthur Park targeted at veterans and chronically homeless individuals. The project, which was developed by the non-profit Skid Row Housing Trust, consists of a five-story structure containing 52 studio and one-bedroom apartments above offices, support space, a large public courtyard and parking accommodations for automobiles and bicycles. Rents in the apartment complex range between $435 and $776 per month, depending on unit size and income levels.

New MacArthur Park Development Revealed

A document from the Los Angeles City Planning Commission (CPC) has revealed renderings for 2972 W. 7th Street, a proposed residential-retail development in the MacArthur Park neighborhood. The project - which is being developed by Datum Development, LLC - would consist of a six-story building featuring 180 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial uses. Plans also call for a a partially-underground garage capable of accommodating up to 206 vehicles and 214 bicycles.

Multifamily Residential Development Rising in MacArthur Park

Home Paradises, LLC, a real estate firm based out of the City of Commerce, is in the midst of construction on a new multifamily residential complex in MacArthur Park. Leeward Plaza, now rising from a .85-acre site at 2925-2951 W. Leeward Avenue, will consist of a five-story building featuring 80 apartments, a parking garage and residential amenities. The project will offer a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom unitsranging between 663 and 1,764 square feet.

Apartments Planned for Property Near MacArthur Park

More housing could soon be on the way near MacArthur Park. Yesterday, a vesting tentative tract map was filed with the Department of City Planning for a 122-unit apartment complex at 668 S. Coronado Street. The approximately .4-acre property is currently in use as a surface parking lot. The Real Deal LA reports that the property is owned by prominent Koreatown landlord Jamison Services. The project sits one block south of the Zinc Apartments, a 152-unit apartment complex now rising next to the Hayworth Theatre.

87 Apartments Coming to Westlake

The bustling Westlake neighborhood will soon get an influx of new residential units, per a recent filing with City Planning. Check it out: The project includes 87 multi-family residential units and approx. 900 sq. ft. of commercial floor area in the construction of a new seven-story mixed-use residential building. More apartments appear to be coming to the stretch of Wilshire Blvd that traverses the Westlake neighborhood. Wilshire Coronado Condominums to Rise Near MacArthur Park

Tucked away on the western edge of McArthur Park, a mixed-use development will rise on Wilshire Blvd. The New York based Somerset Group has been working out details with the LA City Council regarding construction of the Wilshire Coronado Condominiums, a 7 story mixed-use building featuring 154 luxury condominiums and 8,500 square feet of retail. The project will have studio, one and two bedroom units, set to open in Fall 2015.
