New Look Unveiled for DTLA Apartment Tower

An internet sleuth from Skyscraperpage has uncovered a sleek new look for Olive & 8th, a new apartment tower currently under construction in the burgeoning South Park neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles. A time lapse video created by the JT Wimsatt Contracting Company features multiple renderings of a taller, slimmer design for the project, crafted by Chicago-based Solmon Cordwell Buenz Architecture. According to documents filed with the Department of City Planning, the retooled plan calls for a 33-story tower which would rise to an architectural peak of 352 feet above ground level.

First Look at Upcoming Spring Street Tower

An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has revealed new details about the 8th and Spring Project, a proposed apartment tower in Downtown’s Historic Core. The project, planned by the Washington-based Holland Partner Group, would replace a .8-acre parking lot at the intersection of 8th and Spring Streets with a modern 24-story building. According to documents filed with the City, the proposed tower would contain 320 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments above as much as 25,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.

Shiny New Renderings for Broadway Palace

New renderings have emerged for Broadway Palace, an immense residential-retail complex currently under construction in Downtown Los Angeles. A marketing brochure from Colliers International has revealed that the completed development will feature approximately 36,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space, divided between two buildings on opposite sides of Olympic Boulevard. The first, a six-story edifice at 1026 South Broadway, is scheduled for completion in 2016. The low-rise building will contain 240 apartments and 15,900 square feet of retail space along Broadway and Olympic Boulevard.

First Look at the Broadway Trade Center Makeover

Earlier this year, New York real estate firm Waterbridge Capital revealed plans to revitalize the formerly grand Broadway Trade Center into an eclectic mixed-use complex inspired by Manhattan’s Chelsea Market. With work now underway on the collosal renovation project, a new set of images have emerged from architecture firm Omgivning which appear to depict the finished product. Renderings portray the 1.1-million-square-foot edifice with prominent greenery, accent lighting and vertical blade signs.

Blossom Plaza Takes Form in Chinatown

Construction has progressed to the fourth level above ground at Blossom Plaza, an upcoming residential-retail complex from the West Coast arm of Forest City Enterprises. The $100 million development, located in Chinatown, will include 237 apartments when completed in Spring 2016. The low-rise will include a mixture of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans, including 53 units reserved as affordable housing. The project will also feature 21 townhouse-style apartments along its southern perimeter.

NMS@Culver City Reveals Itself

The scaffolding has come down at Washington Boulevard and Hughes Avenue, revealing the (mostly) finished exterior of NMS@Culver City, an upcoming mixed-use complex from local landlord NMS Properties. The $63 million project, designed by Santa Monica-based Killefer Flammang Architects, consists of a low-rise structure which will contain 131 residential units, two levels of underground parking and 12,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial floor area. The six-story building will offer a mixture of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, each featuring stone flooring and high quality finishes.

Mixed-Use Development Planned in West Los Angeles

With completion of the Expo Line’s Santa Monica extension inching ever close to reality, another mixed-use development has cropped up just south of its future station at Bundy Drive. Yesterday, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles to construct a new residential-retail complex at 11900-11916 West Pico Boulevard. According to a case filing from the Department of City Planning, the proposed development would consist of 100 apartments and an unspecified quantity of ground-level retail space.

Apartments Headed to Palms-Culver City Border

California Landmark Group (CLG), a Los Angeles-based real estate developer, is planning a new residential complex along the border between the Palms neighborhood and Culver City. The project, known as the Dunn Apartments, would replace an approximately half-acre parking lot at 3838 Dunn Drive. The proposed building would rise seven stories, featuring 79 market rate apartments, seven units of affordable housing and a partially below-grade garage. Proposed amenities include a fitness center, a community room and a nearly 2,000-square-foot roof deck.

Elevated Crenshaw Line Station Takes Form

Infrastructure projects always move slower than molasses, but a year-and-a-half after breaking ground, Metro’s $2 billion Crenshaw/LAX Line is gradually beginning to take form. Progress is most apparent at the intersection of Century and Aviation Boulevards, where the installation of falsework portends the arrival of a future elevated station served by both the Crenshaw and Green Lines. The site was previously home to a 1960s-era freight rail viaduct which ferried trains above congested Century Boulevard.

New Plan for Westchester Apartment Complex

A document from the Neighborhood Council of Westchester and Playa Del Rey has unveiled preliminary renderings for 6733 Sepulveda Boulevard, a residential complex planned by real estate investment company Sandstone Properties. The project, located near the 70-acre Howard Hughes Center, would consist of a low-rise structure featuring 176 apartments and a 245-car parking garage. Units in the proposed development would consist of studio, one- and two-bedroom dwellings withh an average floor area of 641 square feet.
