New documents from Burbank’s Planning Division have revealed fresh renderings for the second component of the Burbank Town Center redevelopment. The project, which encompasses 16.5 acres of the 37-acre property, would create: The proposed buildings would replace approximately 241,000 square feet of retail space within the existing shopping complex, including an Office Max, a Corner Bakery and a soon-to-be-vacated Ikea. Per a site plan included with the submission package, pedestrian flow would be directed north from the mall by a landscaped promenade along a one-block section of San Fernando Boulevard.

Micropolitan, the development subsidiary of the engineering firm Psomas, has begun pre-leasing for December move-ins at its latest development in Larchmont Village. The Micropolitan at Larchmont Village, designed by Killefer Flammang Architects, consists of a four-story structure at 5825 Camerford Avenue. The project, located a short distance from Paramount Pictures, features 34 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments in addition to amenities such as a rooftop deck and a pet spa. Individual units include large windows, walk-in closets and high-quality finishes.

Last Friday, Greenland USA officially topped-off the second residential tower at Metropolis in Downtown Los Angeles. The 40-story building, which is on pace for completion in 2018, will feature 514 condominiums and pedestrian-oriented retail space near the intersection of 8th and Francisco Streets. Designed by architecture firm Harley Ellis Devereaux, the 461-foot tower will feature a combination of studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans, some of which will include private balconies and terraces.

The Los Angeles Times has unveiled a rendering for 5th and Hill, the proposed hotel and condo tower that would soar high above Pershing Square. Slated for a narrow, L-shaped lot flanking the Pershing Square Building, could move forward under two different plans. One scenario calls for a 57-story structure featuring 142 condominiums and 25,000 square feet of retail space, while an alternate plan would create a 55-story building with 100 condos, 200 hotel rooms and 27,500 square feet of shops and restaurants.

The streak of new developments continues in the Fashion District. Today, local real estate firm Jade Enterprises filed plans with the City of Los Angeles to construct a mid-rise complex at 11th and Main Streets. The eight-story development, which would replace a series of one-story commercial buildings, is slated to include 379 apartments and 26,000 square feet of office, dining and neighborhood services space. Approximately 11% of the building’s residential units would be set aside for very low income households.

Developer Geoff Palmer is halfway through construction of his two-building Broadway Palace development, which is adding hundreds of residential units across from the popular Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. The first phase of the development, which is expected to open before the end of the year, consists of a six-story building 240 apartments, 15,900 square feet of retail space and live-work units facing Main Street. It sits immediately north of the historic Los Angeles Railway building, which is poised for for a conversion into the first Los Angeles Hoxton Hotel.

Tomorrow, the Woodland Hills - Warner Center Neighborhood Council’s Planning, Land Use & Mobility Committee will review a proposal for a new mixed-use complex at 21300 Oxnard Street. The project, which spans across a 2.25-acre site, would create more than 300,000 square feet of programmed space. Although specifics are unclear, the proposed development would be built in two phases, starting with a mutlifamily residential building and a hotel. The subsequent phase would involve the construction of a medical office tower.

An initial study published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has revealed new information about a proposal to construct apartments next to a busy Orange Line Station. Slated for a 4.5-acre site at 6001 Van Nuys Boulevard, the project would consist of a 530,000-square foot structure featuring 384 residential units and 17,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space. The proposed building, which would rise five stories, is also slated to include amenities such as a fitness center, a swimming pool, multiple courtyards and parking for 532 vehicles.

This past weekend, the Shade Hotel officially opened its doors on the Redondo Beach waterfront. The luxury boutique inn, a central component to the revitalization of the Redondo Beach pier, is a 34,000-square-foot structure featuring 54 guest rooms and event space capable of accommodating up to 250 guestst. Owing to its location on the waterfront, Shade’s event space opens onto an outdoor patio. A ceremony was attended by retired Los Angeles Rams Rosey Grier, Dennis Harrah, Nolan Cromwell and LeRoy Irvin, as well as a number of other players and staff members.

Construction is in full swing for a high-end Cambria hotel in El Segundo. The project, a joint venture between Choice Hotels International Inc. and Fillmore Capital Partners, consists of a six-story buidling that will feature 152 guest rooms. The hotel’s on-site amenities will include a fitness center, a private patio area and a contemporary bistro known as Social Cirlce. Surrounded by Sepulveda, El Segundo and Contental Boulevards, the Cambria is intended to business travelers to El Segundo via nearby Los Angeles International Airport.
