First Looked at Proposed Marina del Rey Marriott

After years of delay, a proposed hotel is moving forward on the Marina del Rey waterfront. The new hotel - which would be dually operated by Marriott’s Courtyard and Residence Inn brands - is slated for an approximately 1.5-acre site near the intersection of Via Marina and Tahiti Way. Plans call for a pair of low-rise structures which would house a combined total of 288 guest rooms, plus meeting space, a restaurant and a second-floor pool deck overlooking the water.

Mixed-Use Development Revealed in West Adams

The mixed-use development wave is about to make landfall in West Adams. 4D Development & Investment, a California-based real estate firm, filed plans with the City of Los Angeles earlier this year to construct a residential-retail complex on an approximately one-acre property at 5163-5189 West Adams Boulevard. The project, referred to as Rise on Adams, would consist of a low-rise structure featuring 72 apartments, 33,800 square feet of ground-level commercial floor area and two levels of underground parking.

Breaking Down the Arts District's Soho Warehouse

An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning (LADCP) has revealed new details about Soho Warehouse, the highly anticipated Arts District expansion of Soho House. The new outpost - scheduled to open in 2016 - will occupy a six-story, 100-year-old former warehouse at 1000 S. Santa Fe Avenue. According to LADCP records, the private club will feature the following amenities: Soho Warehouse requires multiple discretionary approvals from the City of Los Angeles, including a conditional use permit for alcohol sales and a zone variance for parking.

Construction Forging Ahead for Del Rey Apartments

Construction continues in Del Rey for a pair of multifamily residential complexes from the Beverly Hills-based Lido Equities Group. The first of the two developments, located at 11811 Culver Boulevard, is a five-story structure featuring 27 loft-style apartments above a parking garage. The building, designed by architecture firm Shubin + Donaldson, will include communal amenities such as a gym, a laundry center and an entertainment lounge. Units will come appointed with concrete floors, valuted ceilings, balconies and high-quality fixtures.

Rendering Revealed for Slim DTLA Hotel Tower

A project data page on the Los Angeles Department of City Planning website has revealed a rendering for a 28-story hotel tower in Downtown’s Historic Core. The image portrays the 325-foot tall building as consisting of a jagged structure soaring high above the Spring Street.

Details Released for Proposed NoMad Hotel

Earlier this year, many Downtown stakeholders were elated to discover that the Sydell Group, a New York-based developer of lifestyle hotels, had purchased the former Los Angeles headquarters of the Bank of Italy for $39 million. The vacant 12-story edifice - commonly known as Giannini Place - has remained in a state of disrepair for years, despite its location in the midst of the resurgent 7th Street corridor. Now, details have emerged about Sydell’s plan to convert the 1923 building into the second location of the NoMad Hotel chain.

Residential Buildings Make Progress in Hollywood

A pair of multifamily residential developments are underway in Hollywood, across the street from the $150 million office complex which will soon house the Los Angeles offices of Netflix. The first of the two projects - which is being developed by Tanner & White - consists of a low-rise edifice at 5800 Harold Way featuring 56 residential units. The four-story building, designed by Los Angeles-based PSL Architects, is located on a .8-acre site near the Hollywood freeway.

Details Revealed for Massive Crossroads Hollywood Development

An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has unveiled new details about a proposed mixed-use development which which would build upon Hollywood’s iconic Crossroads of the World complex. Crossroads Hollywood - which is being developed by Harridge Development Group - would create a series of high-rise and low-rise structures on roughly eight acres of property bounded by Sunset Boulevard, Selma and Highland Avenues. According to designs from architecture firms SOM and Rios Clementi Hale Studios, a full buildout of the development would comprise approximately 1,432,000 square feet of residential, hotel, retail, restaurant, office and entertainment uses.

Mixed-Use Complex Planned in Lincoln Heights

A century-old industrial-complex-turned-film-set in Lincoln Heights is now slated for a third makeover as a mixed-use development. According to plans filed earlier this week with the City of Los Angeles, the cluster of vintage buildings at 2626 N. Lacy Street would be repurposed with a combination of live-work lofts, low-income housing, commercial office space and pedestrian-oriented retail. According to records from the Department of City Planning, the project would include nearly 260,000 square feet of programmed space within three renovated warehouses and three newly constructed buildings.
