More construction cranes appear to be on the horizon for Downtown’s rapidly growing South Park neighborhood. Last week, tenants of the office complex at 1212 S. Flower Street were notified that their parking accommodations are being relocated to an off-site garage. Onni Group, the owner of the five-story building and its adjoining parking lot, has planned for several years to construct a high-rise development on the surrounding property. According to plans filed with the City of Los Angeles, the project would feature two high-rise structures featuring a combined 730 residential units and approximatley 8,000 square feet of retail space fronting Flower, Hope and 12th Streets. Renderings from Chris Dikeakos Architects portray a pair of modern glass towers rising above an above- and below-grade parking garage. A 40-story, 529-foot tall building would stand at the corner of Hope and 12th Streets, while a 31-story, 421-foot tall building would stand on Flower Street, overlooking Metro’s Pico Station. The towers are the third in a series of Downtown high-rise developments for Onni, which completed a 33-story extended-stary apartment complex in 2015 and broke ground on a 50-story building in February. The 1212 Flower project will neighbor serveral other towers now rising near the L.A. Live complex, including the $500-million Circa development and the $1-billion Oceanwide Plaza.
