The longtime home of Ametron Electronics, located at Selma and Argyle Avenues, has often been discussed as a future development site. A Dallas-based apartment builder will now attempt to capitalize on the property’s potential. Earlier today, a subsidiary of Mill Creek Residential Trust filed plans with the City of Los Angeles to redevelop the Ametron property, which is located at 1546 N. Argyle Avenue. The project, which spans across approximately 1.1 acres of land, would consist of 276 residential units - including 13 for very low income households - in addition to just over 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Additional details about Mill Creek’s proposal are currently unclear. The family which owns Ametron had previously attempted to redevelop the property into a 20-story office tower, though the proposal was never formally submitted to the Department of City Planning. The Ametron redevelopment would abut the proposed Palladium Residences, a $320-million project from Miami-based Crescent Heights which calls for the construction of two 28-story towers on the parking lots that flank the Hollywood Palladium. Other large developments are already under construction nearby include the second phase of the Eastown apartments and two high-rise buildings on Yucca Street. A seven-story apartment complex was recently completed across the street.
