Park Place, a 105-acre mixed-use campus in the Irvine Business Complex, continues to expand. On the southern edge of campus along Michelson Drive, vertical construction is nearing completion for a new AC Hotel by Marriott. The project, which is being developed by Dallas-based Woodbine Development Corporation, will consist of a six-story building featuring 175 guest rooms. The select-service hotel is being designed by global architecture firm HKS, Inc. It is just the third American location for the AC Hotel brand, following establishments in New Orleans and Miami Beach. Completion is anticipated by late 2016.
Immediately east of the hotel, work continues for Vireo, a two-building multifamily residential complex which is being developed by the Sares Regis Group. The project will offer 520 studio, one- and two-bedroom dwellings which will range between 600 square feet and 1,175 square feet in size. Amenities will include a swimming pool, two roof decks and an underground parking garage. The low-rise complex, which is being designed by TCA Architects, is on pace for completion in 2017.
According to the official Park Place website, future expansions could include multiple office towers. A building which could span up to 300,000 square feet is slated to begin construction sometime in 2016 or 2017.
