A 1.44-acre property flanking the Harbor Freeway could birth multifamily residential units and pedestrian-oriented commercial space. Earlier today, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles to build a seven-story apartment building at 136 S. Beaudry Avenue. The property, which lies between 1st and 2nd Streets, would yield 220 dwelling units, in addition to 7,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space and amenities including a pool, a jacuzzi and a parking garage. The development site lies one block south of the nearly 10-acre site where controversial developer Geoff Palmer intends to build Ferrante, his largest residential community yet. The project, which would be designed in his signature Italian Renaissance style, calls for approximatley 1,500 residential units above 30,000 square feet of street-level commercial space. Additional details are currently unclear.
