City Century, LLC - a subsidiary of the Shanghai-based real estate firm ShengLong Group - has officially filed plans for its first residential tower in South Park. According to a case filing from the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, the proposed development at 1229 S. Grand Avenue would consist of a 24-story building featuring 161 condominiums and slightly over 2,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space.  Plans also call for numerous residential amenities, including a 215-car parking garage. An artistic rendering previously posted to the City Century website portrayed the tower as a 240-foot tall glass structure capped by a rooftop pool and amenity deck.  The project is reportedly being designed by Steinberg Architects. Construction of the high-rise complex will require a number of discretionary approvals from the city, including a site plan review. The tower at 1229 S. Grand Avenue is the first of four major developments proposed by City Century for the Central Los Angeles area, including a 37-story tower slated for a nearby property at the southwest corner of 12th Street and Grand Avenue.  Other projects include mysterious multi-tower developments near L.A. Live and in Koreatown.
