A staff report to the Los Angeles City Planning Commission has unveiled renderings for Madison Avenue Park, a proposed half-acre green space in East Hollywood. Slated for a vacant city-owned lot at 1175 N. Madison Avenue, the property will feature public green space in the front and a community garden in the back. The park space, which is being created through a partnership between the Trust for Public Land and EPT Design, will offer grass fields, shade trees, seating, picnic tables, exercise equipment and basketball hoops. It will be managed by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The community garden, a project from the Los Angeles Community Garden Council and by NAC Architecture, will offer 30 to 50 plots available for rental, as well as a 640-square-foot educational building. The project, which does not have a clear timeline, is being funded by a $2.2-million grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
