Remnants of a failed condominium development have given way for a multifamily residential building in Echo Park. The Bond Companies, a Los Angeles- and Chicago-based real estate investment firm, is currently building a low-rise mixed-use complex on a triangulage property at 330 N. Union Avenue. The project, which also fronts Belmont Avenue and Temple Street, will consist of a four-story building featuring 69 apartments, 1,100 square feet of ground-floor restaurant space and a parking garage An artistic rendering from Lahmon Architects portrays the wedge-shaped building with a contemporary design and a rooftop amenity deck. Marketing materials suggest that compeltion is expected later this year. Prior to 2013, the approximately .64-acre property had been slated for a 52-unit condominium complex. Although construction began in 2006, the process stalled after the collapse of the housing market.
