Marriott Edition Pushing Dirt on the Sunset Strip

Yet another striking hotel development is underway on the world famous Sunset Strip. Crews recently cleared a 1.37-acre lot located at 9040 Sunset Boulevard, setting the stage for construction of West Hollywood’s highly anticipated Edition Hotel and Residences. The project - which is being developed by a joint venture between Marriott International, the Witkoff Group and New Valley - will serve as the Edition brand’s West Coast flagship, offering 148 guest rooms, 20 condominiums, and a variety of food, beverage and nightlife venues.

Domain Rising in West Hollywood

Domain, a mixed-use development from Trammell Crow Residential, is rising quickly in West Hollywood. The project, located at 7141 West Santa Monica Boulevard, consists of a six-story structure featuring 166 residential units and approximately 9,300 square feet of ground-level retail and restaurant space. Plans call for a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom dwellings which average approximately 848 square feet in floor area. Images from architecture firm Studio One Eleven portray the low-rise complex with a three-story portal and plaza along Santa Monica Boulevard, breaking down the scale of the facade and opening an interior courtyard to the street.

Avalon Bay Builds Mixed-Use Complex in West Hollywood

Nearly one-and-a-half years after breaking ground, developer Avalon Bay Communities is making slow but steady progress on the former Movietown Plaza development at 7300 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. The sprawling 2.89-acre complex, now known as Avalon West Hollywood, will consist of a series of low-rise structures featuring 370 residential units, including 77 reserved as affordable housing for seniors. The apartments will sit atop approximately 30,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a large underground parking garage.

More Mixed-Use Rises on Santa Monica Boulevard

Washington D.C.-based developer Combined Properties, Inc. has started construction on a new mixed-use development across the street from the Gelson’s supermarket in West Hollywood. The project, officially known as “The Crown,” is rising from a nearly half-acre site at the southwest corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Kings Road. According to its developer’s website, plans call for 48 residential apartments seated above approximately 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. A photorealistic rendering from Santa Monica-based Koning Eizenberg Architecture portrays a four-story structure with exterior finishes including perforated metal panels and stone tile.
