Local Developer Files Plans for DTLA Hotel

One month after rumblings first emergedfor a new Cambria Hotel near L.A. Live, developer Pacific Properties Partners has officially filed plans for the project. The proposed high-rise development, slated for a 13,700-square-foot property at 926 W. James M. Wood Boulevard, would feature 247 guest rooms, ancillary functions and various food and beverage venues. Cambria, which operates under the banner of Choice Hotels International, is a limited-service brand that caters to business travelers.

More Condos Debut in Westwood

Los Angeles-based real estate firm Palisades has unveiled the Liddel, a luxury condominium building set to open in Westwood’s “Condo Canyon.” Located, at 10777 Wilshire Boulevard, the Liddel consists of a collection of 56 dwellings with a mixture one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Individual units, which range from 1,030 to 2,700 square feet in size, come appointed with European-inspired kitchens, white oak floors. Select residences feature private rooftop terraces offering views of the Los Angeles basin.

Abundant Housing LA's 2016 Voter Guide

Next Tuesday, L.A. County voters will comb through a laundry list of state and local ballot measures deciding future policy for subjects ranging from marijuana legalization to the death penalty. Abundant Housing LA, an advocacy group which pushes for increased housing production in Southern California, is focusing on three inititiatives at the county and municipal levels that will shape the ways in which Angelenos live and move. Their recommendations to voters are as follows: CITY OF LOS ANGELES PROPOSITION HHH Recommendation: Vote Yes Prop HHH will issue up to $1.2B in bonds to develop safe, clean, affordable housing for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless.

Rendering vs. Reality: South Park's G12 Development

The scaffolding has come down, and we can now compare South Park’s G12 development to the glossy renderings first presented by developer Sonny Astani three years ago. Located at the southeast corner of 12th Street and Grand Avenue, the project consists of a seven-story structure featuring featuring 347 residential units and 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Other noteworthy features include fitness center, courtyards, a swimming pool and underground parking for 320 vehicles.

New Design Emerges for East Hollywood Development

A leasing brochure produced by CBRE and Kennedy Wilson points to a redesign of CIM Group’s proposed development at 5601 Santa Monica Boulevard, formerly known as Paseo Plaza. The project, which is described as a an “Urban Power Center,” dates back to 2006, when Culver City-based Continental Development Group first entitled the property. Under the revised proposal, CIM plans to rehabilitate the interior of the historic Sears Building - built in 1928 - as retail space, while its rooftop would be converted into a 20,000-square-foot park featuring with landscaping, outdoor seating and seasonal programming.

Residential-Retail Development Planned Near Orange Line

Montage Development, a real estate firm based out of Calabasas, is planning to redevelop a parking lot near the Orange Line in Warner Center. The .43-acre site, located at Vanowen Street and Canoga Avenue, is slated for a six-story building which would feature 150 apartments above nearly 8,100 square feet of retail space and parking for 226 vehicles. Montage’s project sits directly across street from the 46-acre site where United Technologies Corporation is looking to build a “sustainable urban community,” consisting of mid-rise and high-rise structures featuring apartments, offices, and hotels above pedestrian-oriented commercial space.

38-Acre Creative Office Campus to Rise in Tustin

Next year, Lincoln Property Company (LPC) plans to break ground on Flight, a 38-acre campus that is being marketed as the first ground-up creative office development in Orange County. Alcion Ventures of Boston is partnering on the development. The project, which would rise on Barranca Avenue in the City of Tustin, would create a collection of low-rise and mid-rise structures totaling 470,000 square feet of office space. A series of four-story buildings will cater to larger tenants, offering floor plates between 90,000 square feet and 130,000 square feet.

Oceanaire Development Begins Construction in Long Beach

Lennar Corporation, a massive homebuilder based out of Florida, has quietly started site prepration for the Oceanaire development in Downtown Long Beach. According to Longbeachize, work began last week for the seven-story building, which will rise from a vacant lot near the busy intersection of Ocean and Pine Avenues. When completed, the seven-story building will feature 216 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, in addition to a pool terrace, a fitness center and a clubhouse.

Campus Development to Break Ground in Chatsworth

Uncommon, a real estate firm founded by Jason Larian and Ryan Hekmat, has announced the groundbreaking of “24,” a campus-style development in Chatsworth consisting of apartments, creative offices and retail space. The 24-acre site at Winnetka Avenue and Prairie Street, formerly a Los Angeles Times printing plant, is slated to become the new headquarters of MGA Entertainment, a manufacturer of toys and electronics, including the popular Bratz dolls. The project calls for the adaptive reuse of the former printing facility, creating approximately 255,000 square feet of office space.

28-Story Tower to Rise on Grand Avenue

Downtown’s high-rise boom continues to migrate outwards toward the freeway ring, as plans emerge for yet another residential tower in South Park. According to a case filing from the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, an approximatley one-acre property at 1323-1349 S. Grand Avenue could be redeveloped with a 28-story mixed-use building. The project, which would replace a nondescript commercial building, would feature 284 residential units, 6,300 square feet of retail space and parking on five above-grade levels and one subterranean level.
