Sleek Apartments Rising Near Hollywood and Highland

Update 9.30.15 - SPFA has updated their website with information indicating that the new design for the project is that which is seen in the headline picture above. Construction is underway on a new residential-retail complex near the Hollywood and Highland Center. The project, located at 1737 North Las Palmas Avenue, will consist of a six-story structure featuring 82 apartments, 125 underground parking spaces and an approximately 1,200-square-foot ground-level coffee shop.

More Apartments Over Retail on Sunset Boulevard

Another trophy property on Sunset Boulevard is slated for a large mixed-use development. Last week, plans were filed with the City of Los Angeles to construct a new residential-retail complex on the approximately 1.2-acre property at 6200 Sunset Boulevard. Plans call for an approximately 240,000-square-foot complex, featuring 270 apartments and 12,400 square feet of ground-level floor area devoted to retail and restaurant uses. The property is currently occupied by series of one-story buildings featuring a car wash, a pharmacy and other businesses.

Residential Buildings Make Progress in Hollywood

A pair of multifamily residential developments are underway in Hollywood, across the street from the $150 million office complex which will soon house the Los Angeles offices of Netflix. The first of the two projects - which is being developed by Tanner & White - consists of a low-rise edifice at 5800 Harold Way featuring 56 residential units. The four-story building, designed by Los Angeles-based PSL Architects, is located on a .8-acre site near the Hollywood freeway.

Details Revealed for Massive Crossroads Hollywood Development

An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has unveiled new details about a proposed mixed-use development which which would build upon Hollywood’s iconic Crossroads of the World complex. Crossroads Hollywood - which is being developed by Harridge Development Group - would create a series of high-rise and low-rise structures on roughly eight acres of property bounded by Sunset Boulevard, Selma and Highland Avenues. According to designs from architecture firms SOM and Rios Clementi Hale Studios, a full buildout of the development would comprise approximately 1,432,000 square feet of residential, hotel, retail, restaurant, office and entertainment uses.

Six-Story Hotel to Rise in Hollywood

Renderings have emerged for a proposed hotel that would rise a half-mile north of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The project, slated for a .79-acre site at 1919-1925 N. Wilcox Avenue, would consist of a six-story structure featuring 159 guest rooms and a combined 2,900 square feet of internal bar and restaurant space. Plans call for a two-level underground garage capable of accommodating up to 148 vehicles at one time. According to designs from architecture firm Gene Fong Associates, the low-rise building would offer a second-story outdoor lounge featuring a pool and spa deck.

Affordable Housing for LAUSD Employees Rises in Hollywood

One block south of Hollywood Boulevard, construction is underway on Selma Community Housing, a $32-million affordable housing complex which will cater to employees of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The project, located on a .65-acre site at the intersection of Selma and Cherokee Avenues, is being developed by Los Angeles-based non-profit Abode Communities. Designs call for a five-story structure which will feature 66 apartments, an outdoor children’s play area and 117 underground parking spaces.

First Look at Latest Hollywood Boulevard Hotel

An environmental report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning (LADCP) have provided a first glimpse of a new hotel planned along the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The project, which is being developed by CIM Group, is slated to replace a series of low-rise commercial buildings on an approximately .75-acre site at 6611-6637 Hollywood Boulevard. Plans call for a six-story building featuring up to 167 guest rooms and suites above approximately 19,900 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 1,634 square foot community art gallery.

Hotel Tower Goes Vertical in Hollywood

Based on aerial photographs taken in Hollywood this past weekend, vertical construction is now underway on a long-delayed hotel development near the Capitol Records Building. The project, known as the Argyle Hotel, is rising from a .44-acre site at 1800 N. Argyle Avenue. City records indicate that the proposed 16-story hotel tower would approximately 220 guest rooms, in addition to meeting rooms and restaurant space. Additionally, plans call for fifth-floor swimming pool and a 93-car parking garage with three above-grade levels and one basement level.

Fresh Renderings for 5901 Sunset

Earlier this year, Hudson Pacific Properties pulled a major coup by signing Netflix to a 200,000-square-foot lease in the their under-construction Icon tower at Sunset Bronson Studios. Now, the West Los Angeles-based real estate investment trust must hope that lightning strikes twice, as it moves forward with plans for another large office building across the street. The proposed development, slated for a 1.5-acre parking lot at 5901 Sunset Boulevard, would rise 18 stories, featuring approximately 274,000 square feet of office space and 26,000 square feet of ground-level commercial floor area.

Proposed Hollywood Tower Adds Height and Hotel Rooms

Plans for a new high-rise development in Hollywood have reemerged on a much grander scale. Yesterday, a tipster forwarded a notice from the Los Angeles Department of City Planning which indicates that developer Riley Realty, L.P. has made substantial revisions to their proposed mixed-use complex at 6220 Yucca Street. The project, which was originally envisioned as a 21-story tower featuring 277 apartments, is now planned as a larger two-building development that will contain both hotel rooms and multi-family residential units.
