Upcoming Sunset Boulevard Development Gets New Renderings

A draft environmental impact report published by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has unveiled new renderings for 6250 Sunset Boulevard, a low-rise mixed-use development proposed by Essex Property Trust. The project, slated for an approximately 1.5-acre parking lot next to the Earl Carroll Theatre, would consist of a seven-story building with 200 apartments and 4,700 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space. Plans call for numerous on-site amenities, including a 316-car garage, a swimming pool, a fitness center and a rooftop deck.

Fresh Renderings for Hollywood Development

A final environmental impact report released by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning has revealed a new look for a mixed-use development planned near the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex. The proposed Hollywood Cherokee apartments would rise from an approximately one-acre parking lot located just north of Hollywood Boulevard. Plans from Los Angeles-based Champion Real Estate call for a six-story building, featuring 224 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments above nearly 1,000 square feet of ground-floor restaurant space.

Eastown Apartments Phase II Moving Ahead

Pantages Theatre patrons will soon need to find new parking accommodations, as an immense mixed-use development gears up to being work on the sprawling surface lot along the Walk of Fame. Earlier this week, developers DLJ Real Estate Capital and Clarett West filed permits with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to allow for the construction of a seven-story residential-retail complex at 6200 Hollywood Boulevard. The proposed development would include multiple low-rise structures, offering a combined total of 513 apartments above street-level commercial space and a five-level subterranean parking garage.

Offices and Apartments Rise in Hollywood

The formerly quiet intersection of La Brea and Willoughby Avenues is rife with acticity these days, as construction forges ahead on a pair of new commercial developments. One year ago, Washington State-based developer Holland Partner Group broke ground on La Brea Gateway, a low-rise residential-retail development at 915 North La Brea Avenue. The five-story building, designed by Santa Monica-based VTBS Architects, will include 179 apartments, a 33,000-square-foot Sprouts Farmers Market and parking accommodations for up to 463 vehicles and 231 bicycles.

Half-Finished La Brea Project Gets a Redesign

Halfway through the construction process, a more refined look has emerged for the La Brea Regency Lofts, an upcoming residential-retail complex near the Hollywood & Highland Center. Artistic renderings by local architecture firm OML Consultants portray a modern five-story structure, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies. The project, located on a .37-acre property at 1616 North La Brea Avenue, will consist of 56 apartments and and 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space when completed.

Icon Rises at Sunset Bronson Studios

Heavy construction has officially commenced for Icon at Sunset Bronson Studios (SBS), the latest shiny object to grace Hollywood’s formerly low-slung skyline. The 14-story building, described as a vertical creative campus, is the centerpiece of a $150 million expansion of the 92-year-old SBS campus. In addition to the 323,000-square-foot office tower, plans from property owner Hudson Pacific Properties (HPP) also include a 1,600-car parking garage and a five-story, 90,000-square-foot production building known as the Hub.

Mixed-Use Complex Tops Out at Selma and Vine

Vertical construction is complete for the Camden Hollywood, a new residential-retail complex from the Houston-based Camden Property Trust. The $140 million development, located at the intersection of Selma Avenue and Vine Street, consists of a seven-story structure which will feature 287 apartments, 40,000 square feet of ground-level reail space and 750 underground parking stalls. Designs from Los Angeles-based TCA Architects call for an extensive array of recreational amenities, including a a pool deck with an outdoor spa.

First Glimpse Inside 1601 Vine

The J.H. Snyder Company’s $70 million office tower at 1601 Vine Street may be little more than a hole in the ground at this point in time, but a new set of images will allow you to flash forward to view the finished product in 2016. Renderings from an official project website portray the building’s upper levels with the exposed ceiling and open environment which typifies most creative office space. The building’s lobby strives for a more refined look, with tile walls and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Signs of Progress on Proposed Hollywood Hotel

It appears that work is getting underway on yet another large hotel near the world famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine. Earlier this week, an Urbanize reader noticed construction crews erecting a protective barricade around the perimeter of the vacant office building at 1800 Argyle Avenue. The five-story structure, sandwiched between Yucca Street and the Hollywood Freeway, is slated to be demolished for a new hotel managed by the San Franciso-based Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group.

New Hotels Announced for Hollywood

Commune Hotels & Resorts, a San Franciso-based lifestyle hotel management company, has announced the upcoming construction of two new hotels in Hollywood as part of its continued national expansion. A half-acre property at 1523 Wilcox Avenue will birth the Thompson Hollywood, a 10-story structure featuring 200 guest rooms with views of the Hollywood sign and Downtown Los Angeles. Amenities in the mid-rise tower, designed by the New York-based Rockwell Group, would include multiple food and beverage venues.
